Dear All,

The arrangements for Mel’s funeral will be a combined service to allow both Melanie and her family’s wishes to be carried out. The service and cremation will be at Seafield Crematorium at 2pm on Friday 9th May which is this Friday.

http://www.edinburghcrematorium.com/

Click on link for Seafield

The owners of the Claremont Bar, Robin and Jean Phillipe, where Mel used to dj every month, have very kindly offered to host us all afterwards including the provision of a buffet. They both got to know her very well and felt this was something they could do for us at this time.

www.claremontbar.co.uk/

Both the service at the crematorium and the gathering at the Claremont are an open invitation to Mel’s family, friends and for those who feel they would like to pay their respects, even if they did not know Mel personally. Everyone who feels that they would like to attend please do so.

I would like to ask that you please pass this on to allow everyone to be informed and have the opportunity to attend as I know that there will be some not listed in this address book.  To those of you on Facebook, Myspace, Live Journal etc if I could please ask that you pass this information via these networks and any others that you are involved in. I will try to ensure updates are maintained on these but may not be able to and would hope that a few of you will take the lead and ensure the information remains visible.

Mel was loved and supported by her friends and is a reflection on how wonderful she was and you all are. I know she will always be in our thoughts and hearts and this will keep her memory alive.

On behalf of Mel and her family I would like to say a heartfelt thank-you.

 Stuart x

Just a short post...

40's Me
Yesterday was the worst day ever...

I lost a patient - I was working in the Admissions Unit, had a 53 year old man that I was working with, doing his routine admission. It was on the Doctors round, one minute he was chatting away to myself, the student nurse, Chrissie, and the Dr's and the next he was arresting... after 45 minutes we  had to call time. It was awful, a horrible sight and so hard to take in the reality of what I witnessed last night. Then of course the family had to be informed, that was harder still.

I'm still shocked this morning... i should be studying for my Massage Exams but it seems so irrelevent.

Selling my Sewing Machines...

  • 23rd Feb, 2008 at 1:49 PM
40's Me
OK I've decided to sell my sewing machines... most of the sewing i do is by hand now and as I start to prepare to begin the emmigration process I need to clear out items that will not be coming with us on our travels to the US.

So... I have a Toyota RS2000 Sewing Machine - In excellent condition, this is a super little sewing machine for general use, it has a few minor scratches on the casing but other than that its perfect. I've had it for about 3 years now and its never let me down. It still works as good as the day I bought it. It has extra features of hemming, embroidery, buttons and button holes, comes with additional feet etc. It is also reasonably fast.
Bought new for £179, so would like at least £40. Can be collected (the free delivery option!), or delivered within Fife and Edinburgh area for an extra £5 (to cover my fuel costs!) or delivery by courier arranged at cost. Comes boxed with all original accessories and manuals, along with 3 extra boxes of needles.

I also have a Toyota SL1T Overlocker. This is a super little machine for hemming and giving that professional finish to clothing, bags, accessories etc. I've only had it for 2 years and barely used it as I do most of my sewing by hand now! Its works fantastically. Bought new for £199, so would like at least £50. Can be collected (the free delivery option!), or delivered within Fife and Edinburgh area for an extra £5 (to cover my fuel costs!) or delivery via courier arranged at cost.Comes as new, boxed and with all its original accessories and manuals.
